The MMA and Mahwah Police Department have made the difficult decision to cancel the Youth Leadership Academy and the Junior Police Academy for 2020.
Due to the Covid-19 health crisis, the Mahwah Police Department and Mahwah Municipal Alliance will not be able to offer the Police Academies this summer.
At this time, we do not have clear guidance, nor do the facilities where we host these academies, on how these summer academies could be held and operated safely. Even if they would be allowed to operate by the originally planned dates, it is unclear what appropriate safety and health restrictions would be required to be safely and functionally deliver the Academy programs for both the staff and recruits. Therefore, we have jointly had to make the tough decision to cancel for this year.
The health and safety of officers, staff and all participants is of the utmost priority.
