To facilitate opportunities for children to become socially and physically active, the MMA focus efforts in both sports programs as well as local community outreach activities. Simply, our goal is create as many chances for kids to become positively engaged as we can. Experts in this field explain that a core strategy for preventing youth from experimenting with, or becoming users of, drugs, alcohol and tobacco is to be positively engaged in physical activities such as a team, or club or other effort that requires their consistent attendance and preparation.
As a result, the MMA has been historically active in incubating and helping boost sports programs as well as in creating other program opportunities where children can positively interact. Please see the Sports Programs and Community Outreach sections of our site.
The Target Audience
Activities the MMA will consider supporting should target youth between the ages of 6 -18.
Program costs for sports are usually participant supported, with individual sports programs charging appropriate fees to cover such items as uniforms, equipment, field rental or other related expenses. Costs for other activities are considered as part of any potential financial support the MMA may provide.
